Sandefjord secured an important 3-0 victory over Start in Eliteserien round 22 at Jotun Arena. The Vestfold side scored three second-half goals and dominated the match after Start were reduced to ten men.
The match was even in the first half but turned dramatically when Start's Ousmane Diallo Toure received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 56th minute. Sandefjord manager Andreas Tegström brought on Mathias Sauer, Edvard Sundbö Pettersen and Martin Hellan in the 65th minute, and the substitutions had an immediate impact.
Ervin Gigovic broke the deadlock eight minutes later to make it 1-0. Just three minutes after the goal, an assist from Martin Hellan found Edvard Sundbö Pettersen who doubled the lead to 2-0. Mathias Sauer put the game to bed ten minutes from time following a pass from Oscar Forsmo Kapskarmo.
Andreas Tegström told reporters after the match that his team took control after the red card and executed their plan well. He added that the substitutes brought energy and quality.
The statistics show clear dominance from Sandefjord with 58 percent possession and 19 shots to Start's seven. The win gives Sandefjord three key points and moves them up to 14th place in Eliteserien with 20 points from 20 games. The team's recent form shows one win, two draws and two losses in their last five matches.
