Sandefjord lost 3-2 away to Bodø/Glimt in a match where the visitors' late fightback fell just short. Trailing by three goals, Sandefjord scored twice in the final half-hour but could not find an equaliser against the league leaders.

The match was decided in a frantic second-half spell. Jens Petter Hauge put Bodø/Glimt ahead in the 34th minute. Andreas Helmersen made it 2-0 nine minutes after the break and added a third just four minutes later, assisted by Hauge. At that point, Sandefjord looked beaten.

The team refused to give up. Jakob Maslo Dunsby pulled one back in the 69th minute, set up by Mathias Sauer. The game opened up, and in the first of four added minutes, Evangelos Patoulidis scored to make it 2-3 after a pass from Ervin Gigovic. No clear chance for a leveller followed.

  • We showed good character against one of the best teams in the country, manager Hans Erik Ødegaard said after the final whistle.

The defeat leaves Sandefjord in 13th place in the Eliteserien with 20 points from 20 matches. They are a full 30 points behind leaders Bodø/Glimt. The team's season tally stands at 18 goals scored and 27 conceded.

The last meeting between the sides this season also ended 3-2 to Bodø/Glimt last week. Sandefjord's next assignment is a home game against Start on Sunday. Start currently occupy 16th place in the table. The last time the two met, in March this year, Sandefjord won 3-2. View the full upcoming schedule on our fixtures page.

The injury situation continues to affect the squad. Devon Koswal, Filip Loftesnes Bjune, Marcus Melchior and Nikolaj Möller are all sidelined and will not be available against Start. For a complete overview of the playing staff, see our squad list.

Sandefjord have now lost their last two matches, following draws against Viking and Brann and a win over Sarpsborg 08. Their form over the last five games reads two losses, two draws and one win. The task against Start becomes important to break the negative trend and secure distance from the relegation places. The match kicks off at 18:00 at Jotun Arena.
