Sandefjord G14 have started the season strongly with three wins in four games. The match against Sandnes Ulf was their third win in a row in the National G14 group stage. Our boys had a lot of ball possession and were almost in powerplay against a compact and tight Sandnes Ulf defense. The guests from Sandnes Ulf were cynical, low and hard on counter-attacks. It was a bit of an unusual scenario for our boys, but it was also very good learning. The first half was relatively chanceless, except for some long shots from the blue team. It was goalless at halftime. In the second half, the same picture continued. Our boys had the ball and rolled on attack after attack. The chances grew in the second half and it was eventually just a matter of time before the ball would go into the goal. Mantas Silgalis decided to shoot from 20 meters, the ball got a nice bounce in the grass and found the net with bravery. A very deserved scoring, about ten minutes before full time. After our scoring, Sandnes Ulf got a bit more pace and pressed on. On overtime, they also got a ball over the line, but were whistled offside. It was hard to see from our position, but we trust that the referee made the right call. Regardless, we say that it was a deserved and good team win. The last match in the group stage for our boys is against league leaders Bryne, on Sunday 14th June at 16:00.
